Ricky's report of the Aberdeen game is now available.

After the 2-1 defeat, Terry Butcher said:
"It was a very sore one to take as we played some fabulous football and created many chances but once again failed to score.  Once again we failed to keep it going for 90 minutes - and I've told the players that we can't keep spurning chances like that.  Aberdeen had an early chance but after that we dominated the first half - but Aberdeen's early goal in the second half changed that and the confidence and belief we had evaporated."

Reflecting on the past two home games Butcher added:
"One point from a possible six at home is very disappointing. We created enough chances in both of these games to win both games and more.  Although we passed up a couple of early openings we took the lead, although it was never a penalty but in our position we will just take it.

"Before the start of the season we would have been happy with many of our performances although on too many occasions the second halves have not matched the first.  The high tempo we play at is not a problem and the players proved by maintaining that for 90 minutes against Celtic we can do it against anyone."

When asked about James McFadden's performance, Butcher added:
"Players of McFadden's ilk hang on the edge.  I have said to him he is quite like Paul Gascoigne - first on the training pitch and last off it and wanting to do well all the time.  And just like Gazza he reacts badly when things are not going well - in particular you could see how annoyed he was with his second half booking which takes him out of the next game against Rangers - but he is a young man and I hope one developing into a great player."

Just to confirm what TB said above, Faddy's booking against Aberdeen means he is suspended for the game at Ibrox on October 19.

Time for a new opinion poll!

Should Steve Woods be replaced when the transfer window reopens?
