Stevie Hammell and Stephen Pearson have been named in the Scotland Under-21 squad to face Lithuania at McDairmid Park on October 10.

Scott Leitch (shoulder injury), Stephen Pearson (heel injury) and Jason Dair (groin strain) are all listed as doubtful for Saturday's trip to Tannadice.

Today's Sun reports that the club are considering asking the SPL to postpone our match against Dunfermline on October 25, as three of our players will be away on Scotland Under-19 duty! David Clarkson, Paul Quinn and Kenny Wright, along with young goalkeeper Andrew Reid, are all in the Scotland U-19 squad to face the Faroes, and with his 16 man first team squad already down to the bare bones, Terry Butcher says he might ask for the game to be rescheduled:
"Our young players will get their chance here, and no no young player that we have brought in has let us down. At Motherwell we expect our 17-year-olds to be pushing for the Under-21 side, and the 19-year-olds to be pressing for the first team squad. At other clubs they would at best be playing Under-21. We expect them to learn playing against the best and that's in the first team. And no other club in the country can have played two strikers at 17 and 18 together! Kenny Wright came in alongside David Clarkson against Livingston and looked as if he had been there for years. Wright had already been on the bench while Paul Quinn is a smashing player. Then there is Andy Scott who broke through last season. Shaun Fagan is back from injury and Marc Fitzpatrick is another to look out for.

"But now we may even have to ask for the Dunfermline game to be postponed as we have Quinn, Clarkson and Wright from our first choice 16 away with Scotland Under-19s. It's never been done before, but I'm prepared to do it."

The Under-21s lost 2-0 to their Hearts counterparts at Stirling on Monday night, a result which saw the U-21s drop to ninth in the league table. Meanwhile, the U-21's match at home to Dundee Utd on Monday October 6 will now kick-off at 2pm.

An interview with Terry Butcher is available from the Official MFC Website.
