Our old friend Karl Ready is back in the papers today. Apparently the 10 players made redundant last year are expected to meet the SPL tomorrow to claim that they are owed a total of £700,000, and Ready's lawyer says his client is due £400,000 of that figure. Ready hasn't played professionally since leaving Fir Park and wants every penny owed to him. SPFA assistant secretary Fraser Wishart is quoted as saying:
"Clubs hold players' registrations, which means they can't quit and go to work for some-body else after a period of notice. That makes players different from any other kind of worker. The only advantage of giving up that freedom is they can't be unilaterally dismissed simply by tearing up their contracts whenever trouble arises. So there is one law for football and another one for the general public. We are asking Motherwell to uphold football law and not hide behind the Government's insolvency procedures."

Meanwhile, former Motherwell player Greig Denham has been forced to quit the game through injury. The 27-year-old has been plagued with problems since damaging his cruciate limagent while at Motherwell five years ago.
