Yup, I've been away again! This time a long weekend break in Nice, where we also visited Monaco and Cannes. And I managed to arrange it so that the only game I'd miss was Aberdeen at Pittodrie!

Sounds like I missed an eventful match, with Motherwell somehow managing to blow a two-goal lead against ten men in the closing stages. A second half double from David Clarkson seemingly had us coasting, and when Aberdeen's Byrne was sent off we seemed certain to take the points. However, Richie Foran then conceded a penalty which was converted by Mackie, and the Dons substitute then headed home an 84th minute equaliser.

Ricky's report of the game is available here.

Terry Butcher's post-match comments were as follows:
"For the red card, Clarkson tussled with Byrne and it looked like six-of-one and half-a-dozen and the other to me. But the referee was closer than me to the situation and he made the decision to dismiss him. I am very disappointed to have lost out on two points which should have been ours for the taking after we played some very nice football in the second half.

"Clarkson was great for us in scoring two goals and is a player who never gives up. He loves to run into the channels and his first goal came as a result of some great interplay between himself and Scott McDonald. However, I am hoping the players bottle up their frustrations from this match and unleash them on Livingston in our next match."

Looks like the Motherwell v Aberdeen CIS Cup Quarter Final is going to be shown live on the BBC on Tuesday, November 8 with a 7.45pm kick off.

Both Stephen Craigan and Andy Smith have been named in the Northern Ireland squad for their matches against Wales and Austria. If Craigan plays in both games he will move onto 14 caps during his time with Motherwell - ahead of Tommy Coyne and level with Simo Valakari.

David Clarkson, Graeme Smith and Paul Quinn are in the Scotland Under-21 squad for the matches against Belarus and Slovenia.
