A few more snippets of news from today's papers...
  • A short leet of candidates will be prepared next week but an appointment will probably not be made until after the St Johnstone game.
  • STV news reports that Mio is happy in coaching and is not interested in the vacancy.
  • The Herald lists several names (Billy Stark, Craig Brown, Tom Hendrie, Tommy Burns, Brian McClair and Ian McCall), but cites Brown and McCall as being the front runners.

John Philliben believes that Motherwell need to sign at least two players if we are to avoid relegation from the SPL this season. Sepaking this afternoon, he said:
"I believe the players we have brought in will come good and take us up that league but I still think we have to add one or two players."

Pat Nevin added
"There is money still available for the new manager. But no new players will be coming in until the new man is appointed.

"We have three games in a short period of time and there has been a lot of upheaval. There is a two-week break after that and in that period some decisions will be made. It's not a promise but that sounds like a sensible time to me."

Nevin also confirmed that the number of job applications was now in the thirties, and added that he hoped John Philliben and Miodrag Krivokapic would be able to continue in some capacity once a new manager was in place.

A few more snippets of news from today's papers...

  • In today's Sun, Pat Nevin says he has given himself 6 days to sort out a shortlist of candidates from all the applications.  He said: "I want to be in a position after the Airdrie game on Tuesday to hand John Boyle a shortlist."

  • It is understood that Tommy Burns has NOT put his name forward for the post.

  • The Sun claims that former Hibs defender Tommy McIntyre was set to be named as the club's new Head of Youth Development yesterday, but BD's departure has put the announcement on hold.
