Speaking in today's local press, Pat Nevin heaped praise upon our top
scorer David Kelly, and reckons the 35-year-old could be a key player in
Saturday's match against Hibs:
"All our new players have came in and done well in different ways,
but David had become a firm favourite with the fans. Right from the
off he has shown a great attitude and he has already proved what he good
player he is inside the box. The fact he has two goals and hit the
woodwork twice in five games shows he is a goalscorer. On and off
the park David is a talker and is a fine example to the younger players at
this club. His experience will certainly be invaluable to us throughout
this season."
Looking ahead to the Hibs match, Nevin added:
"Past games have been entertaining between the sides, but, to be
honest, I really don't care if the game is scrappy, so long as we
win. Hibs have spent a lot of money in comparison with most of the
teams outside the Old Firm and have done really well and they will be
right up there challenging, so this will be a difficult game for us,
although they all are in the SPL."
PN is also looking forward to meeting up again with former winger Derek
Townsley:
"Derek was a very popular player here with all the players and
especially the management and it will be great to welcome him back."
I'm sure the fans will be delighted to have Townsley back at Fir Park
too...
