You're not going to believe this, but I'm off work sick at the moment........with the chickenpox! And boy does it suck. I'm feeling and looking absolutely awful, although rest assured it will take a whole lot more than this to stop me from going to Nancy next week. Incidentally, and on a completely different subject, I can't believe I have neglected to inform you all that another little Motherwell supporter will be entering the world sometime in January 2009... Speaking of Nancy, I was pleased to hear that the club had managed to secure an allocation of 2,000 tickets, as it was beginning to look like season ticket holders were going to have to take their chances in a ballot. Tickets (priced €5 and €10) were supposed to go on sale tomorrow, but I see from the Official Site that, surprise surprise, there has been a delay. Still on the subject of Nancy, the BBC are to screen live television coverage of both legs of the tie. We've been drawn at home to Hamilton Accies in in League Cup 3rd Round on Wednesday, September 24. Prices are £15/£10 across the board, and this is the one and only cup game all season for which season tickets will be valid. Very sad to learn of the death of former Motherwell midfielder Jamie Dolan at the age of just 39. I believe he is the only player to have turned out for us in all eight of our European ties thus far, although my own most prominent memories of him are the fantastic goal he scored for us at Brockville back in 92/93 (I think), and the time he played in goal when we beat Celtic 2-1 at Fir Park. On transfer deadline day, Mark McGhee signed Slovakian international defender Maros Klimpl on a five month loan. Looks like he is cup-tied for Europe though. Anyone going to Ibrox a week on Sunday has this to look forward to. Unbelievable. |
