Ahead of tonight’s Scotland Under-21 international, James McFadden is quoted in today’s papers as saying that he’s happy at Fir Park and would only move if he was guaranteed first-team football. With the transfer window closing at the end of the month, he said: “I am a Motherwell player. Until the club tells me otherwise that is where I will be and hopefully that is where I will stay for another year or two to continue my development. It seems to be a different club every day but if you are playing well it’s a good thing that you are being linked with these clubs. But it can be unsettling as well. To be honest, I’m just waiting for August 31 – I cannot wait. “If I were to move, it would only be if I was guaranteed to play in the first team because at the moment I am playing first- team football and I love it It’s getting me the chance to be involved in the Scotland set-up so I want to continue playing for a first team. That’s the only way you can learn, playing week in, week out against the Old Firm as opposed to going down south to play for the reserves.”
