8.35am Dave Wardrope was at last night’s Under-21 game at East End Park, and has very kindly provided the following snippet: Our Under 21s drew 2-2 at Dunfermline last night. Daniel Sengewald made his debut and scored twice before going off injured. Graeme Mathie also featured but there was no sign of Kevin Gallacher or Steven Ferguson. Team: Dubordeau, Bell, Mathie, Kinniburgh, Sengewald, Dempsie, Clarkson, MacDonald, Jack, Fagan, Russell. Subs: Ewings, Barkey, Quinn, Crawley and Scott. Meanwhile, Kevin Gallacher has been given until Saturday to win a deal with Motherwell. He is quoted in this morning’s papers as saying: “I’m up to have a look at the club and get a game and we’ll see what happens after that. It has been frustrating. The way football is going means there are loads of us in the same position. I’ve had to advertise myself in the hope something would happen. I had to swallow my pride and go on trial. If I didn’t do that then I wouldn’t get a job. It was a position I never though I would find myself in. I trained on my own to keep fit, went to Italy to train with Palermo and then I was at Huddersfield, where I played some reserve games. Times are tough and people don’t want to spend money on a 30-plus player. They would rather get in a young guy who they can develop. It has crossed my mind that I might not get anything sorted, especially as there is now less than a week to go before the transfer deadline. I kept plugging away and I’ll do that until the day comes when I know it’s time to quit. I’ve always believed that I could on that wee bit longer. I’ve kept myself fit, but the hard thing is that I haven’t been playing games recently.” Time for a new opinion poll! Can Motherwell avoid the drop this season? |
