Motherwell Out Of Administration

It’s official. We are finally out of administration, and won’t be subject to a 10 point deduction next season!

Here comes the legal bit…

The Court of Session in Edinburgh has approved an application from the club to discharge its administrators and, in accordance with insolvency legislation, resume trading normally as a limited company.

New Motherwell chairman Bill Dickie is quoted as saying:
“We are delighted and relieved to be passing this very important milestone for the club. The last two years have been very hard for everyone involved with the club but we are now looking forward, with one of the best young teams in Scotland.

“I would like to thank the administrators for the valuable assistance they have given the club. Motherwell is emerging from administration on a sound financial footing and can meet the challenges ahead with confidence.”

Outgoing administrator Bryan Jackson said:
“Over the last two years it has been a privilege to work with people at a club who were totally committed to ensuring the survival of the club and always had its interests at heart. The directors have done a remarkable job in very difficult circumstances and working together we have proved that a period of administration can be run successfully. The club can look to the future in a very positive frame of mind. I would also like to thank the staff, players and in particular the manager Terry Butcher for their help.”

And finally, Terry Butcher added:
“This has been an extraordinary two years. We have experienced some real highs and lows but what is beyond doubt is that the players – both young and old – have shown a tremendous attitude throughout. We are now seeing the benefits of their outstanding professionalism and have shown everyone that the future of Scottish football lies in the hands of clubs like us developing its own talent.”

Derek Adams is being linked with a Bosman move to Aberdeen at the end of the season.  Meanwhile, Terry Butcher’s name has been mentioned in connection with the vacant manager’s job at Easter Road.

David Clarkson and Paul Quinn have both been named in the Scotland Under-21 squad for the friendly in Denmark next week.
